Dear readers,

A new year started off and we wish you happiness, joy and success. May the traditional wishes of “health” really come true.

This year again, we shall try to keep you informed about different and interesting subjects. As a federative organisation, it is essential that our members, the breeders, the judges, the exhibitors be kept updated with the activities organised by the national canine organisations, with the routine that makes their daily work or with the different working championships as we also want to focus on the work, the missions, the functions that our dogs are able to perform.

We shall keep taking time to make you a bit more familiar with our national canine organisations by allocating them a specific space. In the issue you are about to read, we have chosen to highlight our Ecuadorian member, AERCAN.

You will also find an article about the preparation of our major annual event, the World Dog Show that will take place in May in Budapest in the frame of our General Assembly.

Of course, out of concern to provide you with a complete view of the dog scene, we have wanted to centre on shows that took place on different continents, i.e. Europe (Mouscron-Belgium), Asia (Marikina – Philippines) and Latin America (Quito – Ecuador). Let’s remain though on the dog scene! How not to spend some time on the nowadays traditional and famous Eukanuba World Challenge that was conducted in Orlando in December 2012 ?

Meeting the wishes of our readers on FB and visitors on our stand, we have written an article about the requirements for breed recognition and the files currently under review.

Finally, besides our usual articles and sections, we are starting a set of interviews with celebrities deeply committed to the canine cause (Doglebrities).

Please enjoy reading this newsletter; we look forward to seeing you on our stand at different shows.

Cordially,

Yves De Clercq
FCI Executive Director
